Implementing the New SHAPE America National Health Education Standards

Join us for this four-hour workshop where we will spend time learning about the newly revised 2024 SHAPE America National Health Education Standards. Participants will have an opportunity to examine the new themes in the revised standards, through an exploration of the rationale, performance indicators, and other resources. We’ll identify how the revised standards can be used as a foundation to a skills-based health education curriculum and engage in teaching strategies you can use to integrate the health skills into your standards-based health education instruction.
After the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify key components and themes of the revised National Health Education Standards;
- Explore how health skills and performance indicators can be used to guide curriculum and instruction;
- Outline a skills-based activity aligned with the revised National Health Education Standards.

Learn while moving about the new 2024 SHAPE America National Physical Education Standards! Members of the National Physical Education Standards Task Force will describe the updates and changes to the National Physical Education Standards while also demonstrating standards-based activities that
align with new grade-span indicators.
This session will dive into the revision process of the new 2024 SHAPE America National Physical Education Standards. Attendees will learn more about each standard and the changes made, including the rationale behind the changes. There will also be an opportunity to share feedback on the kinds
of resources and professional learning that SHAPE America could develop to aid educators and specialists in utilizing the National Physical Education Standards effectively.
With the release of the new 2024 SHAPE America National Health Education Standards and 2024 SHAPE America National Physical Education Standards, many physical educators are left wondering how to incorporate new health education skills-based concepts into their instructional space. Join us in
this session to learn how you can merge ideas of what you already teach with health skills and SEL concepts while maximizing your time and effort. Explore a variety of activities, resources, technology, and tools that you can implement into your physical education space, to provide students
with essential skills from both sets of standards.
Explore innovative strategies and best practices for fostering authentic student voice in physical education and health. This session will cover the research and benefits of prioritizing student choice and voice, and provide a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas and focusing on ways to
empower student agency. Take tactics and ideas to put in your teacher toolbox and apply immediately with your students.
Join members of the National Health Education Standards Task Force to gain valuable insights into creating a supportive learning environment that promotes health and well-being. Participants will learn how the new 2024 SHAPE America National Health Education Standards can be incorporated for
instruction that promotes inclusive and culturally responsive skills-based health education.
This interactive presentation will equip health educators with practical strategies for implementing and assessing the newly revised 2024 SHAPE America National Health Education Standards. Join members of the National Health Education Standards Task Force as they provide a deep dive into how
to transition your instruction with the new standards and performance indicators by putting them into practice.
