National Physical Education Standards Task Force

SHAPE America is proud to champion and safeguard the National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes for K-12 Physical Education, which serve as the foundation for high-quality PE programs across the country.

In early 2021, SHAPE America's National Physical Education Standards Task Force began the national standards revision process. The task force has been interested in gaining the perspective of PETE faculty/professors, preK-12 practitioners and preK-12 students. As part of this work, they have hosted a town hall to gather feedback specifically from K-12 physical educators and distributed a Student Voice Survey, which received more than 4,600 responses.
