SHAPE America is a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 11 Category I continuing education contact hours.

Health Education sessions approved for continuing education contact hours are identified by the code CECH in the conference program. Refer to the CECH packet to determine sessions with entry-level CECH and advanced-level CECH. CHES attending advanced-level sessions can still receive entry-level CECH, while MCHES attending entry-level sessions can also receive entry-level CECH.

Conference registration is required. There is an additional flat rate charge of $30 (members) or $35 (non-members) to participate. Payment information is on the registration form. Participants can pay for CECH with online, mail-in or onsite registration.

To receive a CECH packet onsite, ask for the CECH for CHES/MCHES booth located near or at the registration area at the conference. Please follow all instructions in the packet. Before the close of the conference, return the completed registration packet to the CECH for CHES/MCHES booth or registration area. Participants will be emailed a certificate of completion.

The workshop provides the fundamentals of a skills-based approach to health education in which the focus is on developing student proficiency in the skills of the National Health Education Standards. There will be discussion on strategies for facilitating skill development through relevant and functional information. By the end of the workshop, participants will have the tools needed to transition to a skills-based approach to health education in their course, school and/or district.

This interactive workshop will focus on the neuroscience of mindfulness and movement to create habits of responsiveness versus reactiveness. Participants will understand the interaction of mind and body through interactive breath and movement sequences that is evidenced based and have access to free curriculum resources. Neuroscience of Stress, Building Belonging and Educator Care are the three key elements of this workshop.
