Dream Big Dreams
“It doesn’t matter where you come from, what you’ve been through, or what you’re going through, we can ALL dream big dreams.”
American Ninja Warrior competitor ... former physical education teacher ... Spokane-based philanthropist ... all of these monikers and more describe Sandy Zimmerman, the opening keynote speaker for SHAPE America’s 2023 SHAPE America National Convention & Expo in Seattle.
Sandy has spent the last five years impacting lives by sharing her story to various schools, groups, churches, business, and organizations. For more than two decades, Sandy has had a framed quote hanging in her office from Jackie Robinson that says, “A life is not important except in the impact it has on others’ lives.” Today, Sandy’s passion and purpose remain stronger than ever.

Prioritize the Whole Child, Center on Health
Traditional approaches to health education focus on prevention, yet too often students may be experiencing health barriers such as chronic illness, stress, anxiety, and depression. As educators, we know how much mental health, body image, relationships with food, social belonging, and sexuality affect students’ learning experience. Our students need and deserve comprehensive health education in every subject. This type of programming is a critical part of every student’s educational experience because healthy students make for stronger learners.
Justine Ang Fonte, M.Ed, MPH, has more than a decade of experience building intersectional health education programs in school communities across subject areas — and to the adults in student’s lives. It’s time to really prioritize the whole child.
Justine Ang Fonte will present the Chuck and Cathie Corbin Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Keynote Address during the Closing General Session thanks to the Corbin Endowment Fund.
