“Physical Literacy: the Gateway to Active Participation”

 
The physical literacy movement is in its early years,  but research findings show many benefits in the physical, social and psychological well-being of children, as well as in achievement of curricular objectives. This talk will share recent developments and implementation of physical literacy in education, recreation and sport. Key research findings will be shared with knowledge translation for integration into health and physical education lesson planning, as well as creating a physical literacy-enriched school.

Olympic Gymnast Raisman Highlights General Session

Aly Raisman, the captain of both the 2012 “Fierce Five” and 2016 “Final Five” U.S. women’s Olympic gymnastics teams, will join us at Thursday’s General Session.

Raisman will participate in an important discussion titled, “We Can’t Sit Still: Why Movement Matters to Our Children, Especially in Our Schools.”



She will be joined by John Ratey, M.D. of Harvard Medical School and Dr. Peter Sanchioni, superintendent of Natick Public Schools (MA).
